The 3406 & C15 — Owner-Operator Favorites

The CAT 3406 and its successor the C15 are among the most prized diesels in trucking. The mechanical 3406B and electronic 3406E earned a reputation for being torquey, durable and endlessly rebuildable. The C15 carried that legacy forward, including the highly sought-after 6NZ and the later ACERT designs. Many owner-operators specifically seek out these engines and will repower a truck to keep CAT power under the hood.

Because demand is strong and CAT no longer builds new on-highway engines, we focus on sourcing quality used takeouts and properly remanufactured units, dyno-testing where possible so you know what you are getting.

Used, Rebuilt or Remanufactured CAT

A low-mileage used CAT engine is the fastest, lowest-cost option and ideal for a quick return to service. A remanufactured CAT is restored to specification with new bearings, liners, seals and reconditioned internals, carrying the strongest warranty. We supply both long blocks and complete engines, and most reman units are sold on core exchange — we explain the core charge and return requirements before you buy.
